South Carolina Archives

Archives contain much useful information for researchers including books, maunscript material (soldier letters, memoirs), photos, genealogical information. The state achives listed below is the best place to start looking for information on soldiers and military units. County archives are often looked. I can personally recommend the large collection in Camden and Darlington.
